SPOTS 3: The Error of Balaam

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah - Jude 1:11

After understanding the concept of Spots and knowing what Cain spots are, Balaam’s Spots are next for discussion.
I repeat, these characteristics I am about to discuss do not have spots but are the spots staining the Bride (universal church of God) of Christ.

Balaam was a Prophet sent by Balak, King of Moar to curse the Israelites as part of a feud he (Balak) had with them. Despite the warnings God gave Balaam not to do the King’s bidding, he however set out on a journey to execute it because the King had given him money; you could say he bribed him until God stopped him through drastic means. So the Prophet was encouraged by material things in using his God-given gift. People with the error of Balaam are motivated by material gains in the usage of their spiritual gifts.

The madness of the Prophet

“They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness” – 2 Peter 2:15

The madness of the Prophet simply means going against God’s will in a matter or situation. Thus, deciding to do something yourself and faking it is God’s way. Be Careful what you call God’s will when you are not sure. If it’s from you, let it be known as such. Don’t accuse God.

⦁ Don’t follow material gains in matters concerning the usage of your spiritual gifts and the church
⦁ Don’t fake God’s will when it is not there

Don’t fall into the madness of the Prophet!

Next is the final episode of the series.

"These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots" - Jude 1:12
